The 411 on Your Coffee and Espresso Drinks

If you have spent many a trip to your local coffee house scratching your head about some of the menu items, then I want to take the time to tell you a few of the differences in the authentic espresso drinks you may be missing out on. First, let's take the Espresso Macchiato. This is just an espresso topped with foam, unlike some ways it may be advertised in modern coffee houses. And then we have the Espresso Con Panna, which is an espresso shot topped with whipped cream. Delish! In the coffee drink family, there are the basic lattes and cappuccinos, with the diff being that a cappuccino is a third espresso, milk, and foam- equal parts, and the latte is espresso topped with steamed milk and an optional dollop of foam. After that is the Cafe Breve, which is a latte substituting half and half for steamed milk- rich and delicious! And lastly, we have the Americano, which is espresso and equal parts hot water to dilute the richness of the espresso down to the caliber of American coffee. Hmm... I hope you caught all that, but feel free to use this new info to impress all the local baristas on you block with you new bag of tricks for ordering the most authentic espresso beverage!
