Are You Brewing The Best Cup of Joe?

There are a few things to consider when you are brewing quality coffee, so make sure that you are not making any detrimental mistakes that will affect your brew.

• Make sure that you are using cold filtered water because that will give you the freshest coffee taste possible when you brew.
• Do not freeze or refrigerate your coffee beans when you store them, but keep them in an airtight container in a cool place.
• Do not purchased pre-ground coffee, but make sure that you freshly grind your coffee beans before you brew them because that will give you the freshest flavor possible.
• Make sure that you are using a quality coffee maker, or more preferably, a French Press, because that will give you the most control over your brewing.
• If you are using paper filters, then use brown filters because they are more porous, so more essential oils will get through into your brew.

How To Best Enjoy Your Coffee

If you feel like there is anything lacking in your daily cup of Joe, then read on for the best advice that you are ever going to get. I want to share with you a couple of tips to make sure that you are not omitting any of the brightest ideas in keeping your coffee fresh and delicious.

  • First, make sure that you are buying your coffee freshly from a roaster or from a website that will roast it the day it is shipped to you (like me!). This is the only way to get truly fresh coffee, and don't even think about buying pre-ground store-bought coffee. It is way beyond stale.
  • Next, you must grind your coffee beans right before you brew because if you let them sit out for more than two hours, then the grinds will begin to grow stale. Not good.
  • Are you using filtered water in your coffee machine? If the answer is no, then you may be noticing an unpleasant mineral type taste to your coffee due to the tap water content. Not to mention the fact that it will cause lime scale in your coffee maker and shorten its life.
  • Don't let your coffee sit out for more than 30 minutes! This is the window of opportunity you have to best enjoy your Java, so don't miss out.

Has this been helpful? Do you have any coffee tips for me? I would love to hear anything and everything, all for the better good of the brew!

How To Find the Freshest Coffee Every Time

If you are constantly being faced with coffee related decisions, then you need to know what to look for to make sure that your cup of Joe is always at its best and tasting the freshest. There is nothing worse than taking a sip of your Java that is waiting for you, only to find that it is bitter and flat. Coffee itself is a delicious and complex beverage that offers so many notes of flavor that I would hate for you to miss out at any time! Here are some simple tips of what to look for in any situation to ensure that your brew is always at its best:

  • Buy whole coffee beans.
  • Grind all of your beans freshly at home in a coffee grinder. The Kitchenaid BCG100 Coffee Grinder is only $35.99, and it grinds from fine to coarse and is easy to clean because it is dishwasher safe.
  • Use a French Press to extract all of the essential oils from your bean for the best flavor. I love the Bodum Chambord 3 Cup Coffee Press because it is personal size, and it actually won the Best French Press award from The American Culinary Institute in 2004.
  • If you are out at a coffee shop, buy some of their beans to grind at home and test the flavors.
  • Be sure to ask the roast date of any coffee shop's beans to ensure freshness.

Hey, sometimes it pays to be a coffee snob because that means you will never compromise on flavor! Don't settle for less...
