    Espresso with chocolate in the bottom//overseas

    I spent some time in South America, so of course I had to order a shot of espresso. The barista there plopped down a shot of espresso that had a melted chocolate chunk in the bottom. Totally unexpected but totally delicious. I also tasted some flavors of cinnamon that must have been sprinkled on top or least in the chocolate. Is this something customary in South America? Anyone with experience would be appreciated.

    I wish I could help. My only two cents is how espresso is customarily served in Brazil, which is sweetened with sugar. It’s called cafezinho.

    Where were you in South America? I visited Peru in Lima, and I found an amazing espresso bar that gave you at least a third a cup of cream per shot of espresso. May not be the best choice if you like your espresso black, but it was absolutely delicious. They also used an award-winning Peruvian coffee called Tunki, which I had never heard of before. Wish I could go back.

    Espresso in Argentina is served with hot milk and a side of sugar. My husband is from Argentina, so now I make it like this all the time at home. Highly recommended!
