    I have a Gaggia classic, and I was wondering if it was possible to create micro foam using this machine. Whenever I froth, I get pretty good micro foam on top, but the bottom of the pitcher is just steamed milk. I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong, but I wanted to know if it was possible to get micro-foam all the way through instead of just on the top with this type of machine.

    I haven’t use that model specifically, but I have used other home espresso machines where I first stretch, then turn the machine off, then wait for it to power up again, and then go back in to spin the milk to get microfoam.

    I do think it’s possible, but a small pitcher would probably give you much better results. Make sure you are using a small pitcher for foaming as opposed to a large one.

    You can definitely get enough steam from a Gaggia if you’re not following the manual instructions explicitly. Here’s what you need to do. Turn on the steam switch, open the steam knob a little, and let it release small amount of hot water into a cup. Hot water will spill out with steam for a few seconds so that a stronger stream of steam can be produced. Start steaming well before the ready light is on when the heater is still heating the machine to keep the steam going strong. As soon as you get dry steam, steam your milk right away. This powerful pressure will give you a much better chance of getting micro-foam the first time around.

    Have you tried the Pannarello Wand by Gaggia made for latte art? I know that it’s longer. I haven’t tried it myself, but I was just curious. Anyone?
